How Did We Get Here?

December 24, 2012

The nation celebrates December 25 as Christmas. If Christmas is all about Christ birth; how did Santa Claus steal all the commercials, ads and greeting cards? It’s not about the gifts we find underneath the Christmas tree, but the Gift that was nailed to a tree for our sins.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins (Matt. 1:21).
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:9-10, 13).
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture (John 10:9).
I understand parents telling small children about Santa Claus. As we grow into the knowledge of Jesus, we should render to God the things that belong to God. Where we were lost, but now, we are found; was blind, but now, we see. We have been transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Did Santa die on a “rugged cross” for our sins? Did Santa serve as “our Mediator”? Did Santa go away to prepare a place for us, and are coming back to receive us? Did Santa forgive sins, heal the sick, and give sight to the blind, made the lame to walk or the dumb to talk? Is Santa the Door to eternal life? When you were in trouble or sick, did you call on Jesus or Santa?
