When the Load is too Heavy

May 12, 2013

So often, we place extra burdens on ourselves by attempting to take on others problems or their expectations. We failed to realize, that we are only humans. We have worn our capes for so long, that it has become part of our attire.
We can’t always be “superman or superwoman” to the entire world. If we could fix all the problems of this world, God did not have to send Jesus. In the old days, farmers had a team of oxen and yokes. The farmer would place the yokes on two of the oxen necks to share the load of pulling a plow.
In families, we should be unselfish and share the load. In a marriage relationship, it is not always 50/50. Sometimes, it may be 60/40, 70/30, 80/20 or even 90/10. Jesus placed us together to help each other.
In the Body of Christ, we all are different members but of the same Body. He gives each of us Spiritual gifts as it pleases Him and to edify Him and not ourselves. We have to realize our strength and also our weakness. Our shoulders are too small and weak to carry some of these burdens we place upon ourselves or allow people to place upon us.
Jesus Himself was led of the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days and nights. There Satan met Him. Again, He went to the Gethsemane with Peter and Zebedee two sons to pray. We too, must take time for ourselves. If Jesus needed to get a way, we too, must stand up and allow our “unassigned” loads to slide off our backs. When we crawl around, we allow people to ride and depend on us. When we stand upright, people and problems will slide right off.
Those problems we fear are too big for us, is just right for God. When you are tired of struggling with your problems, carry them to God and give them to Him. If you are going to worry, don’t pray. If you pray, don’t worry. God is still in control.
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matt. 11:27-30)
For it is written, as I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:11) When the load is too heavy, the weight will cause our knees to bend. Give your burdens and cares to Jesus. Our shoulders are too small to carry these heavy loads. We also have to pull off any weights that we will be able to run and complete the race that have been set before us.
Pray for one another. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. (Ephesians 6:18)
