Beware of Kisses

June 10, 2013

Some friends greet with a kiss on the cheeks, a hug or handshake. Beware of the friends you allow to hug and kiss you. Everyone that tell you they love you, really don’t. I recall my former Pastor telling me “there are three (3) types of people in the church”. There are some you can give a peck on the cheek, some you give a loose hug and some you feed with a very long handshake.
There are some so-called friends that will lure you in with a hug and kiss, while stabbing you in the back. Beware of the people around you. Everyone does not mean you good. Everyone does not have your best interest at heart. There are some “so called friends” will lure you to pour out your feelings and laugh at you behind your back.
Friends will respect your privacy, your feelings and realize your needs. Friends will be there for you during the good times as well as the bad times. The Bible describes a “friend at midnight” as being a friend you can go to at any time. One so-called friend said “the door is closed, my family is asleep and I can’t get up to open the door”.
Jesus is a Friend that will stick closer than a brother. Judas was chosen to be one of the twelve (12) disciples. He walked with Jesus, supped with Jesus, watched Jesus perform miracles; yet, betrayed Him with a kiss. Judas could have easy pointed Jesus out. Instead, to make sure there was no misunderstanding with his pay, he replied “the One that I kiss” is the one you apprehend.
Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him (Matt.26:48-50)
