Stand on God Word

August 5, 2013

The State of Florida is talking about revising the “stand your ground” law. It’s so sad that a young man had to lose his life for eyes to be opened. Any state supporting the “stand your grounds” rule should be abolished.
How far will it go? In my opinion, if a person is approaching you with a gun, knife or any other weapon and you are protecting yourself it is grounds for “standing your ground”. When you are stopped by an officer and they unstrap their gun while walking up to your automobile can be considered a threat to your life. People don’t know if the officers are going to shoot them, kill them or issue them a citation. I was stopped by an officer and the first thing he did, was unstrap his gun. At that point, my life was threatened. If I would have defended my life, could I have used the “stand your grounds” rule against an officer? If it’s got Zimmerman acquitted, other states will have to respect it also.
The “stand your grounds” rule was not put in place to protect blacks. A couple of years ago, someone had cut the screen on my windows trying to find a way into my home. An officer told me “if you are inside your home and an intruder break into your home and does not have a weapon, you cannot kill an unarmed person; because your life has not been threatened”. WHAT?
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. Daniel 6:10-11.
Daniel did not stand on his ground, but rather, stood on the Words of God and his faith. The Hebrew boys stood on the Word of God and their faith: That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. (Daniel 3:5-6, 18)
For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her. For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife. And she went forth, and said unto her mother, what shall I ask? And she said, the head of John the Baptist. And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison. (Mark 6:17-18, 24, 27)
“Stand your ground” is a phrase states use to protect certain citizens. In God eyes, “stand your ground” is empty words. God did not nor give us permission to go around killing people and hide under a state rule. God said: “Thou shalt not kill”. Therefore, the “stand your grounds” rule cannot be entered as a plea. Forget the “stand your ground” and stand on a “Solid Ground” rooted deeply in the Words of God.
The “stand your ground” rule is only paper. When the earth is destroyed, so will the papers. We will still have to stand in judgment with a Righteous Judge. Build your hopes on things eternal and not on things on this earth. Don’t build your faith on a “shaky ground but build on the Solid Ground of Jesus Christ. This is the only Ground we can build on that will endure the test of time.
