Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show your selves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. (Luke 17:12-16)
As we approach the Thanksgiving holidays, we should be thankful for all He has done for us. As we plan our guest list and set our homes to receive guest, let us remember the reason for the season, not only on this one day a year, but every day. Every day, is a day of thanksgiving. Let us remember those less fortunate, the homeless, hungry and the shut-ins and thank God, for it was and is His grace and mercy that kept us out of the soup line or living under a bridge.
There are times when we have to forget about being embarrassed or ashamed and cry out to God with a loud voice? If God have healed you or did anything for you, did you return to give Him thanks, or was you one of the nine? Do you trust Him today? Do you trust Him with your mouth or with your heart? It’s easy to trust Him when the sun is shining, but do you trust Him when storms come upon you?
I was lost in a world of sin. I cried out with a loud voice to save me, to have mercy on me. I was lost, but thanks God, I am found. Was blind, but now I can see. I can see clearly, that it’s going to be a bright future, because Jesus holds my future. . I am that one that came back to say “thank you”. It was “grace and mercy” that brought me this far. His praises shall always be in my mouth. I thank Him for saving a wretch like me. I thank Him for loving a wretch like me. I thank Him for hearing and answering my prayers. I thank Him for His precious love, giving His own Begotten Son to die for my sins.
Have you ever been sick and God healed you? In trouble, and God delivered you? Have you ever prayed for a job, a promotion and God blessed you with that job or promotion? Have you ever prayed for a house, automobile, or a bill paid? Have God blessed you in advance for things you didn’t even know you would need? Have He met you at the cross-roads in your life? I could have been dead, resting in my grave; but God kept back ole death.
Lord, I thank you for taking all our sins on that Hill of Calvary. Lord I am the one that returned, to kneel at your feet and say “thank You”. Thank you for preparing a place for me, thank You for coming back for me, thank you for loving me, thank you for saving me, thank you for healing me, thank You for what you have did, is doing but I thank You for what you are going to do. My heart cries out, thank you Lord for being a Shelter in the time of storms. Thank you for being a Burden Carrier, a Hiding place in the day of trouble. Thank You for being a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path. Thank you for being a Doctor in my sick room, a Lawyer in my courtroom. Thank You for having all power in your hands. Thank You for your love, compassionate, grace and mercy.
I don’t know if I will ever get the opportunity to say “thank You”, so I will do it on today because tomorrow may be too late. If God ever did anything for you, don’t be selfish; but give Him “thanks and praises” right now.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for all my blessings. Thank You for what You are doing right now, what You have done and what you are going to do. Thank You for Salvation, forgiveness, the Holy Spirit and Your Son. Thank You for Your healing, clothing me in my right mind, keeping a hedge of protection around me and my family. Thank You for supplying all my needs, for answering my prayers. Lord, thank You for being God and keep on making a way when I didn’t see a way. Lord, I stretch my hands to Thee, no other help I know. If You withdrew yourself, Lord where shall I go?
