Brother Keeper

November 18, 2013

When I look around in Atlanta, I see selfish politicians only wishing to enhance their resumes or line their pockets. The Governor, Mayor and city council members are so busy kissing up to the Falcons and Braves.
They want to baby sit, beg and plead with these teams to remain in Atlanta. If they want to go, “let them go”. Teachers are being furloughed; education funds are being cut, while politicians can come up with millions of dollars to keep professional teams in Atlanta.
The Mayor lobbied in the black community for churches to sell their buildings to accommodate a larger dome. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ 18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ 21 “So is he who lay up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:17-21)
Now, they want to bring “public rail system” through the black community. Our black communities are being destroyed by Chemical Plants, Textile Mills, Package Stores and (insiders and not outsiders). The church is the “Solid Ground, Cornerstone and base” of a community.
41 Then Peter said to Him, “Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to ALL people?”42 And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44 Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. 45 But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, 46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.(Luke 12:41-47)
Millions of dollars are being spent on foolish ideas; while people are still homeless, hungry, depressed, sick, shooting one another, home invasions, children being abused, cold, unemployed, church families being separated, communities torn apart; while the politicians, Falcons and Braves are eating a hot meal in the comfort of their warm homes. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:7-10)
There are several vacant hotel buildings in the city, which could be utilized to house the homeless. Cutting education will only increase crimes. Without a quality education, people will be limited to jobs or pulling themselves out of poverty.
To the corrupt politicians; one day, you all will give in account for turning your backs upon the needy. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. (Galatians 6:2-4)
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ (Matt. 25:41-43)
