Are You Ready?

February 3, 2014

The snow storm of last week was a wake-up call for many leaders and all of us. When the snow fell in the South last week, people was not ready. Meteorologists had given us warnings but we were still unprepared. God has blessed us with another opportunity to re-evaluate and prepare for the next storm.

In Atlanta, many children were stranded and spent the night in school or the school buses. Some leaders did not take heed to the warnings. Many citizens spent the night stranded on the highways and interstates, separated from their families, without food, water or medicines. The leaders had stated the day before “they were prepared and ready for the storm”.

Don’t be like many of the leaders of Atlanta. Don’t be out eating and receiving awards when your work is undone.

Don’t let Jesus return finds us unprepared. We won’t have a second chance to prepare or re-evaluate ourselves. Jesus return will come as a thief in the night. Will you be ready or trying to get ready?  Don’t let Jesus find you with your work undone. Work while it is day.

Christian leaders, we have been chosen to be disciples for the Lord. We need to be telling people to “repent, get your house in order and be ready when Jesus comes”. We know, Jesus is coming back but we don’t know when.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (1 Thessalonians 5:2)

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3)

As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. (Mark 1:2)

Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. (Matthew 24:17-18)

When Jesus returns, we have to be ready. We won’t have time to go home from the night clubs, casinos or whatever we are doing wrong. Since we don’t know when He is going to return, don’t do anything where you are going to be ashamed to be found. Repent, get your house in order and be ready for His return.
