I Don’t Have Time

February 10, 2014

How much time do we spend studying or reading God Word? Many people make excuses for not studying.

We have allowed electronics to rob us of not spending time in God Word. After a long day at work, so many come home to take a meal out of the freezer and place it into a microwave or conventional oven. We serve our family with a meal in a “box or bag”.

After dinner, we turn the television on, talk on the phone, sign on to the computer, check our Facebook page, check our twitter, emails or send texts.  Before we realize, the electric clock is indicating 11 p.m.

We realize it is late and we have to get up the next morning for work. We set or check our alarm and off to bed.  We have spent four hours with electronic devices and no time with God. It was God that blessed us with a job, an automobile and health and strength to go to the job. It was and is God that carried us safely to our jobs and brought us home safely.  We have become a generation of vipers that places everything ahead of God. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve. (Joshua 24:15a) Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. (2 Peter 1:12) We need to spend time reading, studying and learning of God. We need to have a personal “one on One” relationship with God.

The Scripture tells us to study and search. The alphabet “S” is a very special alphabet. It represents Savior and salvation. The Bible also tells us to search the Scriptures; for we think we have eternal life. Also, we need to study for ourselves that we won’t be misled; that we can rightly divide the word of truth.

We have to be ready to teach and explain Scriptures daily. If we don’t study, we cannot be equipped with the whole armor of God, nor can we rightly divide the word of truth.  And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch? (Luke 6:39)

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15)

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (John 5:39)

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? (Romans 10:14)
