A Mother Love

May 12, 2014

“Happy Mother Day”.  A mother is a very special woman. There is a difference between a woman that gave birth and a mother. I remember hearing my father hum on an old song; “If I could hear my mother pray again”.  Now, I find myself wishing I could hear my mother pray again.

A mother will work all day, tend to her sick child at night and never complains. A mother will pray for her children, nourish them, protect them, and love them and always praying “God watch over my children”. A mother will give her last to her children and always the first to “stand by their child” regardless of the circumstances.

A mother love will last forever. A mother love reflects the love of God.  A mother will put her safety or life on the line to keep her children safe. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months.  But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank. (Exodus 2:2-3)

A mother has soft hands. She will soothe her child with loving hands and compassion while praying for God to watch over my children. After many prayers and love, “LOOK AT GOD” bringing His plans together. When God is in the plan, great things happen. “Pharaoh Daughter said to her, “Go.” So the maiden went and called the child’s mother.  Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. (Exodus 2:8-9) Things impossible with man are possible with God.

A mother will carry her children to church and bring them up in the ways pleasing to God. She will teach them their prayers at an early age, and always remind them to put God first and say your prayers. While defining mothers, I can’t help thinking of a “virgin” that gave birth to our Lord and Savior, and how Lois and Eunice were instrumental in the Spiritual growth of Timothy.

Mothers, if God has blessed you with children, it’s because you have found favor in God. God have entrusted you with His precious gift or gifts. A real mother bears the “fruit of the Spirit”.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22)  (1 Corinthians 13:4-8) is another Scripture defining the attributes of mothers.  Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;  does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;  bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
