A Time to Pray

May 18, 2014

Listening to all the politician candidates running for election or re-election, none of them have outlined their platform. Every politician is saying “what the President is doing or not doing”.

As we all know, the politician telling the biggest and convincing lies is more likely to be elected to the government. They are not interested in fixing the economy or helping the working class people. They are only interested in a “name for themselves, lining their pockets and a retirement plan”. In this Country, many working people do not earn enough to survive but too much to receive assistance. Therefore, a person is penalized for trying to make it without asking for help.

When you hear of shootings in various places, thank your government. They are the guilty party of making it possible for everyone to carry guns into church buildings, restaurants or etc. The politicians are not going to do anything for the “working class” except to impose more tax on the people. People are so busy following “guns and not God”. If they were following God, they would know the President was walking in his assignment. How can one man be hated as much as the President and still be re-elected? But GOD!!! For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11) It was not the President Campaign speeches to cause him to be re-elected; but GOD.  For exaltation comes neither from the east, nor from the west nor from the south. God is the judge: He puts down one and exalts another. (Psalm 75:6)  We ask for a leader that would care for us. When we pray for a leader, we have to be acceptable to the person God send to us, even if they don’t look like us. The politicians have made provisions for the falcons and braves; provide millions of dollars, if they will stay in Atlanta”. While supporting these teams, they are contributing to the wealth of the rich and overlooking the poor. “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.  But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.  So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.  And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom.

“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame”. (Luke 16:20-24)

After listening to the Mayor of Atlanta, we hear of elected officials receiving pay raises, raising millions of dollars for a Falcon and Brave stadiums while firemen can’t get a pay raise.

Leaders: The needy are still needy, the homeless are still homeless and the hungry are still hungry.  Politicians and meteorologists can be wrong every day and never be terminated

The Apostle Paul and David warned us of people like that. They also had a name for them called “dogs, workers of iniquity and evildoers”. Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. (Psalms 37:1-2)

Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, and beware of the mutilation! (Philippians 3:2) I don’t believe any of the leaders asked God for wisdom and knowledge on how to lead the people or manage the city or state. “ Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—  wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.” (2 Chronicles 1:11-12)

  1. As the elections approach this is good reminder to prayerfully submit your vote. Pray for the leaders that God will direct their decisions. .
