My Brother Keeper

August 18, 2014

Am I my brother keeper? Yes !!! We all are responsible for seeing that equal justice is rendered for the Michael Brown family. We are sending troops to fight wars in different Countries to bring peace, yet there is no peace in our Country. This Country criticized Saddam for the way he was treating his people, but are we as a nation allowing the same harsh treatment to be rendered upon US citizens at the hand of police officers, the civil servants that are sworn to serve and protect? Who will come to our rescue? If the shooting was reversed, would Brown’s name been withheld from a murder investigation? Would Brown have been placed in protective custody? We have confidence that God sees everything and He will bring justice to wrongdoers and the agencies that allows wrongdoing to continue. When I say Christians are allowing evil to take place, I am including myself.  We can’t preach or teach God words without preaching or teaching “repentance and accountability”.

How can we tell another Country how to obtain peace when our Country is still at war? It appears no agency is going to question or put a stop to officer shooting.  If you call yourself a Christian, you are responsible for ALLOWING these senseless shootings to continue. In some states, it appears it is illegal to bring harm to animals but legal to shoot unarmed people down in the streets.  These agencies can “cover up or sweep wrongdoings under the rug” but ONE DAY, it will resurface before a Righteous Judge. What will our answer be? “I wore a badge, they deserved it, I was better than them or they disrespected my authority?”  Will we try to lie to God and convince Him of how it really happened? Every person from the White House to the steak house is responsible for putting a stop to these senseless shootings. Every group stands and fights for their rights except Christians. We worry about feelings and offending someone. God Words cut deeper than a “two-edge sword” and God Words also instructs and corrects.

With as many people professing Christianity, how is so much wrongdoing condoned? With the shooting of Michael Brown and others, where are all the leader that have the available and necessary platforms to bring to light the many injustices? Why are they silent? We can no longer be story-tellers but be “forerunners” for Christ and preach repentance. The wages of sin is death and there are consequences to our actions. We cannot afford to be thermostats that changes from cool to heat. Jesus wishes that we were either hot or cold.  God have blessed us with a great harvest, but where are the labors? Satan is stealing and destroying our fruits while we are praising ourselves, rejoicing over our titles, degrees and our names. The NBA held Sterling accountable for his racial remarks but we allow our sons to be shot down. People have asked: “what are you doing”? I don’t have a “BIG MICROPHONE” to speak on evil and wrongdoings, but I do have a “BIG GOD” that sits high and looks low and will bring all evildoers to justice. I have found, people that question or criticize you are not doing anything except “what they do best; criticize”. Christians, we can’t worry about those barking dogs, just watch them. The bark is mighty behind closed gates but as soon as the gates are opened, they become quiet as a mouse.

Am I my brother’s keeper?” And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. (Genesis 4:9b-10)

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.  But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.  And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? (Romans 2:1-3)

Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.’ (Deuteronomy 32:35)

“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. (Romans 12:19)

Silence is consent. We cannot continue to talk about problems among ourselves and expect them to go away. We are in a battle and we must put on the whole armor of God to withstand in these evil days. Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to call sinners to repentance. It’s time we start being more like Jesus. Satan is invading the ranks of God people and plucking them out, one by one. God is speaking to us when He called us by name: “If My People” meaning we have been chosen to walk in authority, to speak life over death, to walk in boldness and to proclaim His Word. We already have the victory but we still have to fight to the bitter end.

This ‘Old Ship of Zion’ is standing by and waiting for God’s people to board. Will you get on board? We may encounter being disliked, rough waters, dangerous territories, pirates but Jesus is the Captain and He will deliver us to safe shores. Satan is doing his job to steal, kill and destroy. Are we fulfilling our assignment to reach out, come out of our comfort zone and draw sinners? We cannot afford to sit in luxury inside the four walls of our places of worship and wait on sinners to come. We were not called to be inside sales but outside sales. Our ministries, witnessing and work is on the outside.
