My Gift

January 19, 2015

My gift may seem small to you but it the gift placed in me.  We are to operate in the gift God has placed in us; as it pleases Him for the edifying of the Body. “But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased”. (1 Corinthians 12:18) God did not give us all the same gifts. Our gifts are to edify Christ and not people.

I don’t believe that God limits us to a single lane. Though, we don’t have the gift to sing, we can still serve in other capacities or clean the House of the Lord. This is our reasonable service.  We are many members but of one Body of Christ. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it”. (1 Corinthians 12:26) I can’t shun a person teaching, singing or preaching. I am there to encourage and support them. I was not there when God placed a particular song, prayer or testimony in their hearts.  We have to be careful of how we limit or laugh at people when they attempt to do something on God program. The Scriptures does warn us “Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.” (Psalms 105:15)

The world will tear us down and we come to the church for support and encouragement. In the streets, if a person cannot carry a tune; peers will still support them. In the church, we have to be anointed. I tell people “I am not singing for a recording contract or to be praise by people”. I am singing because I am happy and I know what God has done for me and where He brought me from.  If my work, singing, preaching or praying is not good enough for men, God will accept it. “Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture”. (Psalm 100:1-3) This little light of mine’s, I am going to let it shine. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. (Romans 1:16)

Prayer: Father, I stand before you as a wretch undone. My gifts are my sacrifice. When you see me and I am not walking right, I ask you to order my steps. If I am not singing right, I ask you to touch my lips. I ask you to take my hand and lead me home. When my life is almost gone, Precious Lord take my hand. When the storms of life are raging, stand by me. My gifts might seem small, like nothing at all; but I use them to bless others as you have blessed me, that you be glorified. Father, I stretch my hand to Thee, no other help I know. I lift you up, I magnify You and I praise your Holy name. Amen
