ACCOUNTABILITY

March 16, 2015

In light of recent police officer deaths it seems that when an officer dies in the line of duty, by all accounts, they were the best son, father or brother. In contrast when victims of officer related deaths are killed, they just become another statistic.  These victims are also someone’s father, brother or son.

The question remains, are victims of police officer shootings lives of less importance? The Country is spending enormous amounts of money equipping officers with body cameras when the real problem may be that they need to be held accountable for their actions.  There are changes that must take place on how the country handles officer involved shootings. I don’t think officers should be placed on “paid administrative leave” while the investigation is pending. Tax payers are still picking up the tab to pay for officers sitting at home. Those officers should be placed on “unpaid leave” until the incident has been resolved. This would force officers to make better decisions before pulling their guns.  Did the educators in Atlanta received pay while the “cheating scandal” was investigated?

Certain endangered animals and jeopardized natural resources, have government mandated protection. What protection do people have when they become the victims?  Before and during the Civil Right Movement, the police force was made up of Caucasians. The government allowed officers to mistreat and kill African Americans with no guilty indictments.  Some fifty years later, the same governing dog has returned to it vomit.  Fifty years later, the force is integrated and the killings continue while officers are placed on paid administrative leave” until victim families cool down and a panel of officers find them not guilty.

Each city and County should establish a “Review Board”. This board should be made up of 7 citizens and 5 officers. This is the only way to receive unbiased verdicts in shooting investigations. Some things must change. We can no longer wait on clergy, mayors, Sheriffs, Chief’s, governors or AG’s to do it for us. These are our sons, nephews, grandchildren being declared as targets. Someone will be held accountable for these killings.

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.  But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.  And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? (Romans 2:1-3)

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,  traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,  having a form of godliness but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit, and “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.” (2 Peter 2:22)

This Country needs a revival and let it begin with ME. In order to turn this wickness around, we must (1) Love the Lord with all our hearts. (2) Love our neighbors as our self (3) Thou shall have no other gods before God (4) Repent (5) Pray (6) Seek His face (7) Turn from our wicked ways, God will hear from Heaven; forgive our sins and heal the land. This Country will perish unless we REPENT.

Prayer: Father in Heaven, we need You right now. We ask You to come into our hearts. Replace love where there’s hate. Lead us and guide us to a Higher calling. Father, we realize we have done evil in thy sight. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right Spirit within us. Forgive us of our sins. We make our prayers and supplications known unto You. Father, we need the every hour. Order our steps in your way and help us to number our days that we may do good.  We ask you to keep us in the palm of Your hand. Be with us as we walk through this valley of death. When weapons are formed against us, they shall not prosper because You have clothed us with the breastplate of righteousness and You are keeping watch over us. For that, we say “thank You”. Amen
