Cheating

April 13, 2015

I find it difficult to apprehend that the eleven educators indicted in the Atlanta Public School scandal was charged and immediately sentence to jail. “Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.  Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you”? (Matthew 18:32-33) School system has been changing grades for years.  If a person was an athlete, some teachers changed grades to keep players on the team. It appears, Atlanta D.A. wanted to make an example of educators; while neglecting the real problems. The Atlanta Educators Cheating Scandal is not the only problem Atlanta must address “For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required”. (Luke 12:48b)

If we are going to lock any and every one that has every cheated, there won’t be anyone left. He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” (John 8:7c) In my opinion, everyone is guilty of some type of cheating; whether it is cheating on their spouses, cheating in school, cheating on their jobs (by texting, talking personal business on company phone),communicating on Facebook, reading or replying to personal emails, surfing the web, loafing at work, taking extended breaks, cheating on tax returns, using calculator while taking assessment tests, arriving late for church, forsaking the assembly of God, not taking care of their children or cheating on tithes and offerings. Elected officials are guilty of cheating children through cutting education funds and teacher furloughs but people over-look the real problems and focus on crucifying this group of educators.

When officers take the life of citizens, they are cheating families of a father, brother, grand-father, uncle and friend. Educators are sentenced to jail for cheating but officers can shoot down unarmed citizens and it seems these cases never go to trial.  If we are going to lock up cheaters, why not start with start with politicians. Politicians are cheating tax payers by obtaining healthy salaries and showing little if any concern for the welfare of the citizens. In Atlanta, the same elected officials pushing for indictments against educators are wasting money on new stadiums while people are still needy, hungry and homeless. In Georgia, one elected official is allowed to resign to avoid prosecution for mismanaging drug seized funds myfoxatlanta.com/…/gbi-investigates-Douglascounty.

People need encouragement, Spiritual food and the Word of God to save their souls and not to be focused on earthly prosperity.  As Spiritual leaders, we cannot take “short-cuts” when it comes to a person soul.  We must preach Salvation, repentance and what “thus said the Lord”.  If a person gain the whole world and lose their soul, what did they profit?  There is a difference between Spiritual and earthly prosperity.  Spiritual prosperity is rewarded by God and through the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23a)

We must not focus on the wrong-doing and evil of the “witch hunt” in Atlanta and allow it  to throw us off course in our walk. The same judge that sentenced those educators will one day stand before the bench of the Most High. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap”. (Galatians 6:7)

Prayer: We come before You as broken vessels desiring to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Grant wisdom and knowledge to the judges that they will judge fairly. Bless the elected officials to make better decisions to care for the citizens under their leadership. We realize, we are in the last days and there is Spiritual wickness in high places.  We know that You are still in control of every life and every situation. We pray that Your word will go forward and touch the hearts of wrong-doers. We come before You as sinners because we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity. We cannot rightly judge others while we are doing wrong.  Create in us a clean heart and renew a right Spirit within us. Father, we stretch our hands to Thee, no other help we know. We ask You to draw nigh unto us and please draw us nigh unto You. We ask You to grant us strength to run on for You as we lift You up. Father, we need a revival. We just can’t make it without You. We need You every hour and every minute of the day. We thank You for your love, patience, forgiveness, protection and longsuffering. Amen
