Are You Prepared for the After-life?

May 18, 2015

On Wednesday, May 13, I was almost involved in an automobile accident. A car was speeding through a stop sign at a high rate of speed. After everything was over, I had to stop to give thanks for keeping me safe and alive. The life as I knew it could have ended or been changed; BUT GOD!!!!

The question was asked: “are you prepared to die”? After I answered ‘yes’ the next question was asked “are the people in the other automobile prepared to die”. You still have work to do. “For My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)

We know that death is certain whereas, life is filled with many uncertainties. We know that one day; the death angel will draw the curtain of death on each of us. God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you.” (Luke 12:20a) We don’t know when, where or even how.  There’s a difference between being ready to die and prepared to die. Are we prepared to die? When that day comes, where will we spend eternity? “So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.  And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom”. (Luke 16:22-23)

Have we accepted the Lord as our personal Savior? Have we asked Him to forgive us of our sins? Do we trust Him with our mouth or our hearts? Accepting God as our personal Savior is a personal and individual choice. Neither our pastors nor our parents can make that decision. It is our responsibility to “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me”. (John 5:39) We must be born again to see the kingdom. Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. (John 3:3)

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. (Romans 10:9-10)

Prayer: Father, my heart’s desire and prayer to You is that the world will turn from their wicked ways, pray, seek Your face and repent, that the people may be saved. We realize we are living in perilous times and we need a Savior. Father, we ask that the sinners will come running unto You and they will open the door of their hearts and accept You as their personal Savior, that they will come into the green pasture and accept You as their Shepherd. As we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we ask for your protection and safe-keeping.   Amen
