Body Camera

October 5, 2015

MY OPINION: This Country is wasting money buying body cameras for officers. If officers were held responsible, there would be no need for body cameras. Citizens are not forced to wear cameras but are expected to do the right thing. Why citizens should pick up the tab for cameras while officers are allowed to drive cruisers across two counties to work or live and pay less for apartments?

With the cameras, officers are still killing and using brutality. If cameras are going to be part of the officer uniforms, every officer should be required to pay for their camera through payroll deduction. Medical staff members have to pay for their own malpractice insurance to relieve the hospitals and clinics of negligence or malpractice.

In every officer shooting, each State, city or county should have a panel made up of six (6) citizens and one (1) officer to sit on the panel and review the innocence or guilt of officers. If the Justice Department would take down that hedge of protection from around officers, we will see departments made up of officers being responsible. While we continue rewarding officers with pay while placed on administrative leave, we will receive more shootings and brutality cases. Body cameras cannot replace fear, arrogance, evil or the false power of a badge.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (1 Corinthians 13:11)
