Happy Thanksgiving

November 23, 2015

Many of us are planning our guest lists, preparing our homes to receive guest, writing out our and menus. Does our guest list include Jesus? Have we made room in our hearts and homes to invite Jesus in?  Is there room for One more? He have already prepared a table before us and sent out the invitation through His Word: And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.  All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. (John 6:35, 37)  If God have still blessed you with your parents, this is reason enough to be thankful.

Many are depressed during the holiday season at the loss of a love one or don’t have a home or food to prepare. If we have food and clothes, we are to thereby be content. For those that have reason(s) to be thankful, we don’t have to wait until the Country set aside a day on the calendar to celebrate Thanksgiving. Everyday is a day of thanksgiving. We can be thankful for the mountains, rain and rivers in our lives. God specializes in making us stronger when our faith have carried us over the mountains and made all rivers crossable. If we have never experienced the rain, we will never be able to appreciate the sunshine in our lives. After each earthly rain, we see God promise in the rainbow. In His word, He is Shelter in the rainstorms. God always remember His promises to “never leave us nor forsake us”. His Word is as true today as IT was back in the beginning. If it was not for God on our side, where would we be?

Every day is a day of thanksgiving. God have been so good to us, blessed us as kept us. We should give Him praises right now, for His grace, mercy and goodness. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, let us also remember those that are less fortunate, the homeless, the bereaved and those that don’t have a menu choice. If we have a bologna sandwich, PBJ or a bowl of soup and crackers, give God thanks. Instead of complaining of the things we don’t have; thank God for the things we do have. When we were unfit to die, You made a way for us to have eternal life. When we were on our sick bed, You healed our bodies. When we were blind, You opened our eyes. When we were lost, You saved us. You keep on making ways out of no way. I thank God for having limbs to work, eyes to see, ears to hear and a mouth to say “thank You”.

Prayer: Father, we give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near. We thank You for our families, health, abundant life, blessings, being covered by the blood of the Lamb, homes, automobiles, food, clothes and shoes. We thank You for supplying our every need and healing our bodies. Thank You for Your shed blood and allowing us to make prayers and supplications to You. Thank You for hearing and answering our prayers. Father, for all that we have and all we don’t have, we say “thank you”.  Amen
