This Christmas

December 23, 2015

The joy of Christmas is all about giving and doing for others. We say we love people but never do anything for them. Love is an action word. We see love demonstrated in the giving of His Son. “For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. (John 3:16)  While shopping in the busy grocery or department stores, give a smile or a kind hello to a stranger. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels”. (Hebrews 13:2) We don’t know what others are going through. A kind smile or a warm hello may be the only joy this person receives. After all, love doesn’t cost a thing nor is there a price tag on love. “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”. (John 15:12) God gives love unconditionally and freely. A kind deed will last longer than an unwanted gift. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another”. (Romans 12:10)

Do you know of someone that is hurting this Christmas? What can you do to bring a smile to their face? Many are sick, homeless, needy, hungry, lonely and depressed. Instead of being concerned about self this Christmas, do something for the ones less fortunate and it will make you feel better. Whatever we do for the least one, we do also unto Jesus. And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me”. (Matthew 25:40) Maybe, we can visit the sick, pray for the needy, feed the hungry and be kind to the ones hurting and depressed. Why give a hungry man a tie when he needs food?  We should take advantage of the “now” opportunity.

We pray your Christmas will be blessed beyond measure; filled with the peace of God and happiness that this world can’t take away. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen!
