The Soap Ophera of Politics

February 29, 2016

As I watched the Presidential Debates over the past couple of weeks I am convinced it’s time for much watching and praying. Before going to cast your vote on March 1st, take a few minutes to listen to the voice of God.  Let us “trust in the Lord with all thine heart and not lean to our own understanding”. The mistake we make on March 1st could come back and bite us.

Where do the candidates stand on real issues? What are their moral and ethical values? Where do they stand on the issues that affect the Christian community? Yes, I have heard of separation of church and state but I still believe in a Country that was founded on religious freedom. I still believe it is crucial that government be reminded that is of the people, for the people and by the people.  What are their views regarding those things that Americans are concerned about?  Issues like “Life Matters”? Trayvon Martin Was Killed 4 Years Ago. Here’s what our presidential candidates had to say on the subject: on Fox & Friends. Here’s a look at what the other presidential candidates — Democrats and Republicans — have said about Martin and his killer since 2012:

Clinton:She never made the first promise about what she’s going to do when she gets in office. What she did say was that she’ll make every effort to make change.”

Cruz:     “He criticized people for politicizing Martin’s death along racial lines and said Stand Your Ground laws aren’t racist. We have seen efforts to undermine the verdict of the jury and, more broadly, to inflame racial tensions that I think are sad and irresponsible”. “CBS’ John Dickerson then pressed Cruz on whether anyone has been confirmed in an election year, pointing to current Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s confirmation in 1988. Cruz appeared confused. Dickerson quickly corrected him. “Kennedy was appointed in ’87, confirmed in ’88. Is it appointing or confirming?” he asked, leaving Cruz momentarily stunned”. Trump:  “I don’t disagree with the verdict,” he clarified, when Fox hosts questioned his stance on the trial.”

Carson: “When asked by Chris Wallace if racial profiling is the greatest threat to young black men, Carson responded “I don’t think it is.” He then explained that Martin’s inner city background could have triggered a “fight or flight” mentality that caused him to engage with Zimmerman.

Rubio “Rubio remained silent about the verdict, but has since been a staunch supporter of Florida’s permissive gun laws”. In my opinion, if he won’t vote on a bill, can we trust him to be there for the American people? It appears; Rubio thinks President Obama name will appear on the 2016 President Ballot. In all his debates, he is talking about what the President is not doing. Yet, he has not revealed his platforms if elected. The Country doesn’t need a past but a present President.

Sanders: “While Sanders has been an outspoken advocate for criminal justice and spoken out against police violence, he’s said little about Martin specifically”. (1)THINKPROGRESS by Carimah Townes Feb 26, 2016 1:01 pm

We can’t sit back and wait on elected official to protect our rights and provide an honest commentary on the issues real America deals with day to day. We cannot look to Capitol Hill for our help. We have to lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (Psalms 121:1-2) I am certain that God did not bring me this far to leave me now. He has promised to supply our every need. He has promised in his word that he will never leave or forsake us. It is God and God alone that holds my future. I am without a doubt in good hands with God. God reminds us “after we have met all His conditions in (2 Chronicles 7:14), It is God and God alone (not the Democrats or Republicans) that will heal the land and forgive sin. As you cast your vote, those that trust and believe in God that rules heaven and earth, pray and ask God for wisdom and knowledge to do what is right. Let us also pray that God will send a revival throughout this evil and sin-sick world.

Prayer: Father, we stretch our hands to Thee; no other help we know. If you withdrew Yourself from us; Father, where shall we go? We ask You to draw out the best Presidential candidate. We will make mistakes on our own. We need You to order our steps and regulate our mind to make the right decision.
