A Call to Remember

April 4, 2016

Looking back over our lives, times as we knew them won’t be any more. Growing up, my father would kill pigs every Thanksgiving Day. He would spend the night cutting up meat, wrapping the meat, place a family name on every package, place the package in the freezer and we would go throughout the community on Sunday evening to give every family a package of meat. Some mornings we awaken to find a bushel of vegetables on our front porch or a string of fresh fish. People shared their resources to make a complete circle of love. God always remember our obedience. And his affections are greater for you as he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him”. (2 Corinthians 7:15)

Some sixty years ago, racial tension existed but not like it does today. The people trusted God and feared His wrath. If one family had a problem, the community pulled together to assist that family. Black men and white men would work together to help the community and prayed to the same God. Families loved each other unconditional. The families blessed each other through their seed offering of fruit, cattle or vegetables. There was not any lack throughout the community. When God blessed those men, they passed it on to bless other families. When women was sick or had given birth, other women would come into the home to cook, clean and help take care of their children.

Sixty years later, every family member has an automobile but the church parking lots are empty. God has blessed many Houses of Worship with carpet, padded pews, electronic sound systems, central air and heat but people don’t have time or won’t make time to attend services. God lifted us from the valley and placed us upon “safe ground”, but we won’t even thank Him or acknowledge Him. When God departed the Red Sea and allowed the Israelites to cross on dry ground, fed them with manna from Heaven, given them water from a dry rock, and led them with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. The Israelites soon forgotten how God made a way for them. The same God that blesses us is still the same God that taketh away. (Job 1:21) God is also a jealous God. (Exodus 20:3)

Many of the President candidates are saying “they want to make America great again.” If the candidates want to make America great again, they have to lift Jesus up, lead the Country in prayers, pray for a Country revival and cry out “repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand. We have allowed everything to take place and we as God people are content with it. We compromise the Word of God by trying to be popular or liked by every group. The same group protesting against abortions is the same group supporting executions. We can’t continue riding that same straddle fence. Time is at hand and we must decide if we are going to follow God or the world. Choose you this day whom you will serve. (Joshua 24:15) People complain the President is not doing enough to slow down ISIS but the same people are quiet while officers are tormenting and shooting down our young unarm men, same sex marriages are being made legal and souls are being lost because we are compromising the word of God to please people rather than pleasing God.  God did not sacrifice His Only Begotten Son to die on the cross that we can do as we please without consequences.

Prayer: Father, we thank you for where you have brought us from and planting our feet upon a Solid Ground. This day, we enter into covenant contract and ask You to be our God and we shall be Thy people. We ask You to look into every heart and draw them out by name. Look upon us with compassionate and forgive us of our sins. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right Spirit within us that we would serve You all the days of our lives. We give You the glory, honor and praise to Your Holy name. Amen
