Breaking Down the Walls

May 2, 2016

Walls are defined- a permanent upright construction meant to enclose, shut off, divide and protect.

Many of us have faced walls, trials and tribulations. “Take heart; I have overcome the world.” “Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me”. (John 14:1) Many people are still being discriminated against. We have allowed people to place walls around us. We cannot allow people to limit us, control us or cripple us. “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him”. (Mark 11:23) Many church-goers are still hiding behind the walls of the church building. We think we go to church to serve God. Serving is best “served from outer to inner”.  In the church, we find cripple, wounded and hurting believers. Our service is not limited to the inside of the walls of the building, but in the trenches, wilderness and the vineyards.

Before King Belshazzar was slain, he witnessed the fingers of a man hand writing on the wall (Daniel 5:5). God is still writing on the wall of His people and non-believers; “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand”. God is writing on the walls of His people. “If My people, which are called by My name, will repent, turn, seek My face and pray; I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land”. Joshua followed God’s instructions to the letter. “When the people did finally shout, the massive walls collapsed instantly, and Israel won an easy victory. In fact, God had given the city of Jericho to them before they even began to march around its walls” (Joshua 6:2, 16). “It was when the people of God, kept their faith, followed the commands of God that the walls of Jericho fell down” (Joshua 6:20).God is able to break down the walls in our lives. “Weapons are formed against us, yet, they shall not prosper”.

People have said that we would never amount to anything. We will never make it to the top. People have placed stumbling blocks in our paths. They have spoken ill of us, lied on us, arrested us, beaten us, sentenced us to life in prison, with held jobs and promotions, bound us in chains, and executed us by hanging or shooting unarmed men in the back. God is saying “I am about to do a new thing; have you not heard?(Isaiah 43:19) The chains that had you bound are falling off. The things that seem impossible to you are possible with God. God have seen our tears and heard our moans. He will not forsake us nor leave us in the hands of our enemies. We are the head and not the tail. We are more than conquerors through Him. God knows the plans He has for us; says the Lord, “thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.  I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity”. (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

“Trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding. In all thine ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path”. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Prayer: Father, break down every wall in our lives that are hindering us or limiting us. Break every chain that is holding us captive. Cover us in the blood of the Lamb. We decree, that we shall be the head and not the tail; the lender and not the borrower.
