FEAR

January 14, 2019

Fear is created in our minds by the unknown. In the past, people and organizations have used fear to control people. The president is attempting to place fear in the American people by his instance that there is a dire need for a border wall. The majority of America’s problems lies inside the walls of America.

It’s not the immigrants seeking asylum in the United States that are wearing badges, shooting and beating unarmed people of color; causing death by choking on the sidewalk or prisoners dying in their custody. Immigrants did not beat Johnnie Rush in Asheville, N.C. or kidnap 14 year old Emmett Till. Till was beaten, shot in the head and dumped into a river. Immigrants did not cause the death of Treyvon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, 12 year old Tamir Rice, Castile, Sandra Bland and others, nor did immigrants cause Three Camden County N.J. Police officers to beat Edward Minguela while his hands was in the air. www.nj.com/…/video-shows-cop-on-leave According to Wesley Lowery of the Washing Post (March 16, 2018), Trump, by contrast, has encouraged officers to rough up “thugs” they take into custody, telling an audience of officers last year. “Don’t be too nice.”

Immigrants did not assassinate John Kennedy or Dr. King. The assassinations did not take place outside of our borders; but from within. Inside the wall, racism caused many African Americans to fight and die for their right to vote. It was the “wall of racism” that caused Rosa Parks to fight against injustice and not surrender to fear. It’s not immigrants that shut down the government and now holds this country hostage unless he get five billion dollars. Immigrants are not threatening to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security while practicing gerrymandering. I thank God that He didn’t give us a Spirit of fear but a Spirit of boldness
