It appears, in these last days, everyone is looking for power. However, they are looking in the wrong places. A few people believe becoming the president of the U.S. will grant them power. Some people think a title will give them power. Some judges believe putting on a robe and sitting on a courtroom bench will give them power. Many police officers believe a uniform, badge and a gun will give them power. Some elected official think being elected to Congress, the Senate or House of Representative will give them power. Many people believe money will give them power. “If we gain the whole world and loose our soul; what profit is there?” We argue, quarrel and break up relationships for the love of money or material things. When we die, we can’t carry our material things with us. We need to “set our affection on things above, and not on the earth.” The young rich ruler was rich but could not depart from his riches. There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously everyday. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: “the rich man also died, and was buried. And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and see Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.” Jesus is the Only Door that leads to eternal life.

There’s no power like the power of the Holy Spirit. When God raised Jesus from the dead, He raised Him with all powers. People, money or badges can’t forgive one sin, save one soul or grant eternal life. Material things can’t heal the sick, give sight to the blind, cause the lame to walk or the dumb to talk. One song-writer said “Give me Jesus.” If we have Jesus in our hearts, we have enough. He mean more than silver or gold.” “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

God is my strength and power, and He maketh my way perfect.” (2 Samuel 22:33)

But tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49)
