History Discussion

October 13, 2014

This blog is different. Today, you have the opportunity to discuss your opinions on History repeating itself.

In the Bible, Pharaoh had decreed that all male babies be put to death to keep the population down. So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born, you shall cast into the river.” (Exodus 1:22a)  Later, Herod sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts. (Matt. 2:16)

In the sixties, African American males was lynched, beaten and killed while America turned it head to the injustice. Later, more prisons was built and filled beyond capacity to accommodate the black males. At one point, the killings was “hidden and done in the dark”. Now, the killings have become more blatant and without fear or consequences. The Country wants to abolish “gang activities” while officers are allowed to shoot, kill or harass citizens. My safety or life is more threatened by officers than gangs.

Some 100 years later, the same America is allowing injustices to continue. The justice system is allowing officers to use African American males for targets. In my opinion, officers are competing in a competition sport to see “which officer can kill the most people”.

  • Why is it necessary for officers to kill African American males rather than make arrests?
  • When is the Country going to step in and hold these officers accountable?
  • If it’s wrong to kill officers, should it not be wrong for officers to kill citizens?
  • Are officer lives more important than citizens?
  • How many more funerals must families attend at the hand of officers before the justice system take actions?
  • What make officers change when they put on uniforms and a badge?
  • Why does a badge and gun transform officers from humans to killing machines?
  • In Georgia, a man is sentenced to 105 years for wounding an officer but officers can kill citizens and serve no time.
  • The finding that black men are 21 times as likely as their white peers to be killed by police is drawn from reports filed for the years 2010 to 2012, the three most recent years for which FBI numbers are unavailable. Huffington post

Every state and city needs its own “Citizen Review Board” to evaluate every shooting. Evidence has shown that officers will stick together and not convict one another. We can no longer expect the “Internal Affairs” to render justice or do the right thing. It’s time we cover our young men in prayers and cover them in the Blood of the Lamb. When I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you. (Exodus 12:13b)

How long will you judge unjustly? (Psalms 82:2)

Do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? (Romans 2:3)

  1. It is sad that this is the truth that we as Americans must live. Very good post Pastor Fairley. So often we must be prompted to open our eyes to the everyday truths that we think will go away if we do not acknowledge them; Or if we pretend it does not affect us.

  2. I would like to see if the cities, states, and counties agree to have the body cameras for police officers. I hope this would deter some of the police brutality we see much too often. I am praying for peace.
